High Noon Challenge
Sean and Montgomery left early this am for a golf tourney in Orlando. I’d been up even earlier – Samantha started stirring around 5am. She still can’t get used to this daylight savings thing. I’ve tried keeping her up as late as 9pm, and her little body still wants to wake up at old 6:15.
I didn’t let her up, but since I knew I wasn’t going to get back to sleep I went on and got up myself. Got a lot done in the hour before I sprung her from her room. Got even more done since she has been happily playing for over 5 hours.
So my grand total for the High Noon Challenge is 16,226 words. Not going to win me any prizes, but it was a big help to getting me back on track with NaNo! I might make 50k after all.
Time for a break – I did most of today’s longhand, and my fingers are a bit cramped.

I was at the store last night, walking down the office supply aisle scoping out notebooks. I was thinking of bringing a notebook to work so I can write on breaks. But it would be too distracting so I changed my mind. I'm thinking of trying more longhand again, then typing it in and editing at that point. I wrote that way before and it worked for me. I'm too reliant on computer now.
I couldn't believe how much faster it flowed, and how much my wordcount jumped, writing long hand. I think it gives your brain a chance to jump ahead - I know I type so fast, that as soon as the thought is down my fingers are sitting there waiting for the brain to tell it what comes next.
Felt good to fill up those journals, that's for sure!
Okay! I'll go to the store. LOL. It's more a excuse to get out of the house in the wee hours when all is quiet.
