Daisy Dexter Dobbs did a fun exercise on creating interesting character names. Basicaly, you're combining a former pet name, a street you lived on, and a teacher. And out of that was born :
Karen Steele:
3-Word Character Name: Major Nelly Rogers
Method:
Main character names and titles usually come to her before the story
itself. She can get 3000 words with nothing but a name. Next thing she
knows she's going into the second chapter of the story wondering "Oh
yeah, what was my conflict?"
Dubbed by Daisy: Juniper Kae Sastrell
This was fun ;) Now I've got two names to play with if I ever get stuck!
I do wish she'd do a 5 minute "Creating interesting conflict" blog soon...

Love that coffee graphic, Karen. Great look!
Thanks for contributing to my little project. It really was great fun and I’ve received several positive e-mails from readers about it. They want to see more…and then I see your “Creating Interesting Conflict” suggestion and I love it. :-D I definitely plan to continue with various writing projects in the future, but have to space them out a bit because this blog, while very enjoyable, was so time consuming. I really need to get back to my writing! :-0
And thanks for the blog link, Karen. I appreciate it!
